A more systematic and methodical cleaner, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid answers the prayers of those who don't like cleaning, as well as those who clean obsessively but can't keep up! The RoboVac G30 Hybrid makes a clean sweep of anything in its path, including picking up pet fur off low pile carpets and, even mop all at the same time.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid has a rolling brush, which can be removed to wash to easily untangle hairs with the included cleaning tool. Being able to remove the rolling brush is useful since is something you cannot do with all robot vacuums, including the standard RoboVac G30 model. The RoboVac G30 Hybrid houses three physical plastic buttons on top of the anti-scratch tempered glass-top cover. The buttons have built-in led lights and allow you to manually control various functions, including sending the G30 Hybrid robot to the docking station, as well as start/stop cleaning and initiate spot cleaning, which stops automatically after 2 minutes.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid has four suction power modes - Standard, Turbo, Max and BoostIQ (auto mode). Despite being the newest robot vacuum though, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid still has the same 2000Pa maximum suction power as the
RoboVac G10 Hybrid and the same Max runtime of 40 minutes too. That said, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid is more efficient in Standard suction mode than the G10 Hybrid, being able to run for an extra 20 minutes longer (1 hour 40 minutes total).
The G30 Hybrid also has a medium suction setting (Turbo mode) with a runtime of 1 hour, which is approximately the time it takes to clean a 350 square foot room. When using BootsIQ, you can expect to get about an hour runtime on a mix of hard floors and low/medium pile carpets (up to 26mm thick). The RoboVac G30 Hybrid can go over obstacles up to 16mm high.
The newer RoboVac G30 Hybrid only has one filter compared to other RoboVacs such as the
RoboVac 30C. which have three filters (including a HEPA filter). Being just one filter, it collects dirt quicker, although having a single washable filter makes the RoboVac G30 Hybrid less fiddly to clean. The dust collector/dustbin inside the the G30 Hybrid has a 450ml volume capacity (1.5 cups), which is 150ml less than the RoboVac 15C Max. The dustbin is made of plastic and opens up clamshell style in two halves, revealing the filter cartridge on one side. The filter cartridge is made of woven fabric like material that you can wash under a running tap and leave to dry.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid comes with a standard docking/charging station that connects to mains electricity via the included AC wall adapter (19V/0.6A). The AC adapter cord measures 1.8 meters long and terminates in a barrel connector that plugs into the docking station. The AC adapter cannot be connected directly into the RoboVac G30 Hybrid since the robot doesn't have a DC port and re-charges via metal contacts. The docking station measures 16cm long, 15cm deep and 8cm high and can recharge the RoboVac G30 Hybrid in 6 hours.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid is able to properly land on the charging dock and engage the charging prongs every time without having issues aligning itself. If the charging dock is on uneven surface (i.e. carpet with pile), using the included waterproof pad may help as it doubles as a ramp. You will hear a voice prompt saying "heading home" and "charging" to indicate the robot is properly connected. The start/stop button led will also brightly flash to provide a visual cue of the same.
The Eufy Home app is the other half that makes the RoboVac G30 Hybrid complete. The app gives you access to all the features, including remote control function and auto-return cleaning, which instructs RoboVac to automatically return to the docking station when battery reaches 20% during a cleaning session. The robot will recharge to about 80% (takes 3 hours) before resuming cleaning at the same place where it left off.
From the Eufy Home app, you can also buy parts/replacements for the side brush, brush guard, rolling brush, grey rubber strip, boundary strip, mopping cloth and water tank filter. The 2600mAh Li-ion battery pack built-in can also be replaced easily by removing the two screws holding the battery cover in place.
The Eufy Home app has over half a million downloads (almost 5 stars) and works superbly without glitches or disconnection hiccups, thanks to being Wifi-controlled as opposed to bluetooth controlled. The app does not require granting unnecessary permissions (only location) in order for the app to work with a phone. The app only supports 2.4Ghz networks though, so you will have to set your router to run on 2.4Ghz radio only. Alternatively, you can also connect to a powerline adapter, which also has to be set to 2.4Ghz only radio.
The Eufy Home app has a clean interface and, it's easy to navigate. The home screen layout shows battery level, cleaning area, cleaning time and a map, which shows the location of the robot. There is even a "find" function to locate the robot should it get lost. The app home screen has six on-screen buttons for changing suction power, stop/start cleaning, docking/ charging, spot cleaning, setting schedules and viewing the cleaning history. The Eufy Home app can add up to 16 robot vacuums devices and, it's compatible with iOS 9.0 (or above) and Android 4.4 (or above).
Design-wise, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid has a slim profile. The front side of the robot is spring loaded with a rubber bumper and, it integrates a large tinted panel across it, which houses infrared like sensors for detecting frontal obstacles.
On the bottom of the RoboVac G30 Hybrid, there two front drop sensors, two side drop sensors, a path tracking sensor, two threaded rubber wheels, a small swivel and removable castor wheel, one side brush, two small charging contact plates, battery compartment and a guarded rolling brush. Should the robot end up upside down or get stuck, a voice prompt will get triggered to alert you. The mop water tank adds an extra 117 grams to the robot's body and can hold 130ml of water.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid also supports boundary detection (G10 Hybrid doesn't) and comes with a meter long, 6cm thick magnetic tape, which only works for this model; hence you cannot use any other type of magnetic strip. With a boundary strip, you can keep RoboVac away from any area without crossing over it. There is 3M adhesive tape included in the box that is designed to help lay the boundary strip flat on the floor or even under a rug, although it has to be a thin rug for it to work. Overall, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid improves cleaning efficiency, thanks to the integration of a path tracking sensor, which allows the robot to better remember where it has been without missing any spots.
The RoboVac G30 Hybrid is a bit smarter too and heavier (2.9kg) but quiet, producing only 56dB of noise. The G30 Hybrid is also still liable to getting stuck under furniture because there is no top sensor for sensing upward obstructions. Some robot vacuums do have a top sensor but the drawback is that it increases the chance of the robot wedging itself under things. Another feature that would be good to see integrated in future robot vacs is "virtual boundary mapping" via the app to define no-go zones, rather than sticking a strip on the floor, which some users are likely to find an "eyesore".
If you're contemplating buying an older RoboVac model such as the RoboVac 11S, one of the key differences is the navigation system. The RoboVac G30 Hybrid uses a path tracking sensor and gyro mapping to clean in a Z-Zag pattern. The older RoboVac 11S, in the other hand, uses bounce technology so, the robot just changes directions when encounters obstacles and works in a back-and-forth, straight-line pattern, which is not as efficient. That said, because the RoboVac G30 Hybrid left side brush has been replaced with a path tracking sensor, the RoboVac G30 Hybrid only has one side brush so, it has two do two trips as the robot isn't able to do one fell swoop like the
RoboVac 15C Max with two side brushes can do.
The 15C Max RoboVac model also comes with a physical remote control, which makes manually navigating the robot less tedious because it works just like a remote control car being able to steer without stopping. You can even reverse too! With the G30 Hybrid, there is no physical remote and the app does not let you backup the robot, which also stops every time you change direction. You can
