GameSir F7 Claw Review Capacitive Grip Controller

By changing the way you control a game, you can instantly become better or worse, depending on the method  (thumbs or finger claw style). The 6 finger claw method is the latest craze because it allows the greatest degree of control, which is ideal for games such as PUBG and Blitz. 
The downside to the finger claw style though, it's that it requires extreme finger coordination as well as, having your fingers all over the screen, which doesn't look pretty. Luckily, there is an easier and cleaner way to master the finger claw style with the new GameSir capacitive grip controller - the F7 Claw - which is appropriately named.


The F7 Claw consists of two standalone grip controllers designed to attach ans connect to a tablet via capacitive sensing technology, which is neither wireless nor wired. The tablet/is securely held in place via 16 small suction cups which grip the tablet securely. Smartphones are a bit too small for the F7 Claw.
Each controller has a bottom edge that is designed to help you aligned the tablet/smartphone perpendicularly. Each F7 Claw controller weighs 58 grams (total weight of 117 grams), which is much lighter than the X2 telescopic controller and the G4 Pro gamepad. This makes the F7 Claw, the lightest in the line up of GameSir game controllers.

The F7 Claw measures 11cm long, 6.5cm wide and 5cm high. The buttons are made of plastic and feature engraved legends, which are carved into the plastic. The F7 Claw controllers feature a spring loaded dual arm clamp, which integrate capacitive sensitive rubber tips that work similar to a stylus pen, making contact against the screen and translating that contact to the L and R trigger buttons on the backside of the controller. 
There are a total of four trigger buttons (L1/L2 and R1/R2) and two turbo buttons. The F7 Claw has superb button placement ergonomics so, it's suitable for all hand sizes and finger lengths. You can easily reach all three buttons using the index finger (L1/R1 triggers), middle finger (L2/R2 buttons) and ring finger (turbo button). You can also use the middle finger to control the L2/R2 buttons and turbo buttons.

The L1/R1 triggers have a clicky actuation with a short (4mm) travel. The L2/R2 buttons are also clicky and activate similarly to a shoulder button. The Turbo buttons have a mushy actuation similar to the start/select buttons of a gamepad controller. The Turbo buttons enable the automatic burst mode for the trigger buttons (L1/R1), which works like Rapid Fire but in bursts that you can adjust from 3, 6 and 9. You can customize the burst frequency too, as well as create a macro sequence combo.

Each F7 Claw controller is equipped with a 45 mAh rechargeable battery, which provides up to 5 days runtime and 6 months in standby mode. The F7 Claw charging time is 2 hours. You can charge the F7 Claw while in use too, which is a good thing since the low battery led indicator only flashes when there is less than 10% battery remaining. Because of the design, the GameSir F7 Claw has no size restriction so, it can be attached to any size (and thickness) smartphone or tablet. The F7 Claw is also compatible with all touch screen overlay games.

Removing and installing the tablet/phone from the suction cups is easy. You simply pull apart just like you do with a bathtub suction mat. The suction cups grip easily on to a glass back panel. 
The suction cups do need a smooth surface to grip on to though. If the surface is textured, you will need to use the included stickers for added suction.
